Over the past few years, we’ve come to believe building agents requires a new discipline. We call it agent engineering, or the iterative process of refining non-deterministic LLM systems into reliable experiences. It requires a combination of product, engineering, and data science thinking.

The space never stops, and neither do we. Since the launch of `langchain`, developers have told us they want more control, visibility, and flexibility when building agents. In rapid response, we built:

  1. LangGraph: A lower-level orchestration framework and runtime

  2. LangChain: Completely revamped with a core agent template and middleware for flexibility, and

  3. LangSmith: Our platform for taking agents to production with observability, evaluation, and deployment.

This week, we’re launching new capabilities to help you iterate even faster:

  • Major 1.0 releases of LangChain and LangGraph marking stability, with a completely revamped langchain package focused on pre-built architectures for common agent patterns, improved model integrations, and no breaking changes until 2.0. Plus, new docs!

  • Insights Agent, a new agent in LangSmith Observability that automatically categorizes agent behavior patterns.

  • Agent Builder (in private preview) to lower the barrier to entry for building agents with a no code text-to-agent builder experience for business users.
