I understand the change to this forum, nothing wrong with that. This topic is about the disappearance of the github discussions on the langchain repository.
As someone new to langchain, I’m googling multiple issues and finding very relevant results in google which would probably shed some light to my issues, but they return 404 Page Not Found.
For example:
Summary
I’m having this issue with mypy:
[had to remove due to limitation of one embed for new users]
And this discussion talks exactly about this issue:
There is no other answer or discussion on the topic. Why? Because that discussion probably addressed it, and there was no need to talk about it elsewhere. But all discussions are now gone, so there is a massive knowledge gap.n
First day learning langchain, and I’ve been hindered twice for things that seemed to have been addressed in the now missing github discussions.
As an estimate, over +3k submissions have been whiped out, but probably many more as the google index is updated overtime and catches on all the 404s. You can try it yourselves: inurl:https://github.com/langchain-ai/langchain/discussions/
[had to remove due to limitation of one embed for new users]
So my question is:
- Have they been archived or migrated somewhere where they can be referenced?
- Is there any middle ground possible? For example, disabling the creation of new issues, but still allowing to see the old ones
If this is just due to a limitation of github and it’s what’s necessary to move discussions to this forum, that’s ok. Just wanted to get some insights into this seamingly unecessary destruction of knowledge as maybe I’m missing something.
